Hello this is the lovely jasper here I’m currently in foster care in Northamptonshire. So a little bit about me. I came into spaniel aid through no fault of my carers, as they took me in when my father passed away. My foster dad really enjoys me and my company and he tells me how good and clever I am all the time. In turn I give him so much attention when we are out I don’t leave his side. I didn’t like it when he went out for a few hours at first then he trained me that to trust him that he was coming back. Now I just chill on the doggy chair till he comes back and I’m super quiet now there’s not a peep out of me until I know he is coming back ‘woof woof’.

I have got a problem with my stomach. They call it pancreatitis and I think I heard my foster dad say I don’t digest food very well and can lose weight really quickly. But foster dad has learned a little by reading up on this and with help from the vet and admin here at spaniel aid they have stabilized me Woop Woop.

I don’t do cow pats any more, I have proper poos. I do need to be on medicine and special EPI food for the rest of my life but if it helps me I don’t care. I actually love it and I don’t leave a bit. I am still hungry during the day and will still be constantly asking for food but foster dad says I’m not allowed anymore. Anyways I got to go now I want to ask foster dad if we can go back out and chase my ball which I adore hope to see someone soon to come meet me I will just loves you and give you sloppy kisses bye for now.

A little bit about jasper from foster Dad here.

I would like you too know he has got a few little issues inside the house and outside Jasper has to sleep on your bed. He doesn’t like it if you try locking him out of your bedroom. He previously lived on his owners bed and old habits are hard to break. Also when he is asleep he likes to be left alone and not woken up. Outside Jasper’s recall is 100% when off lead apart from when he likes to get random strangers to throw his ball. He has got a little reactivity with other dogs when on lead .Apart from these little issues in my eyes Jasper is a beautiful springer and he will be the best companion for somebody. Somebody that is going to give him time and see him for who he is. He has not got a bad bone in his body .Yes he does have his tummy issues but he has flourished since being on medicine that actually helps.

Jasper has been diagnosed with EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency).

This means that the part of his pancreas producing the enzyme enabling him to process his food no longer works properly. Jasper must therefore remain on a very strict eating plan and will need replacement enzymes with every meal for the rest of his life. Without the enzymes, he will rapidly lose weight and have severe diarrhoea, ultimately leading to death. EPI is a lifelong condition and needs consistent and careful management. Due to this, Jasper will be a long term foster, with spaniel aid covering the cost of his epi needs and any other issues connecting to epi. Managed correctly, Jasper is likely to be able to lead a normal life and have an normal lifespan. Spaniel aid will guide his new home in the management of this disease.
