About Us

What are we all about?

We are a group of Cocker and English Springer Spaniel owners and lovers who had become increasingly concerned by the number of these wonderful dogs being offered for sale or even worse: ‘Free to a good home,’ on internet selling sites.  Our aim is to advise owners of the dangers of this, and to help owners who genuinely have to re-home their dogs find better alternatives. We encourage people to relinquish to a rescue, and we take into our care dogs whose welfare we are concerned about.

In October 2016, we became a UK Registered Charity, providing a public benefit by relieving the suffering of dogs, mainly but not exclusively spaniels and spaniel crosses, who are abandoned, stray or otherwise in need of care and attention. We provide a place of safety, using a network of fosterers while we treat and care for the dogs, and then find them suitable loving homes. In 2023 we became a full member of the Association of Dogs and Cats homes, and follow their code of conduct.

We still contact people when we see a dog being offered free or at a low price online, but increasingly our work is with people who have been recommended to approach us to help with rehoming their dog, and with vets and dog wardens who trust us to put the needs of the dog first. We have now been able to find a new home and a fresh start for thousands of dogs with the help of our team of volunteer admins and fosterers, and the wellbeing and happiness of the dogs, and the relief and gratitude of their former owners makes it all worthwhile.
